The Microchip MCP23017 is an I2C 8-addresses GPIO extension port with 2 x 8 bits IO programmable lines.

It extends MCU capabilities through a simple I2C serial bus to read/write IO lines. It can drive LEDs, transistors/FET or other logic devices.
